Alan ‘Olly’ Olsen hosts his bluegrass show on Thursday from 6pm.
Tell us about yourself
My name is Alan Olsen, but on air I’m known as Olly. I live in Sunbury, am a classic car buff, auto painter, and car repairer. I belong to the GM Car Club, and own a 1963 Chevrolet super sports hardtop Impala – which I restored myself.
Tell us all about your show
Olly’s Country & Bluegrass features odd jolly jokes, tid bits, occasional interviews, readings from Cinema Weekly, there’s my country artist of the week, and lots more to keep listeners entertained and informed.
I also take phone calls and will play requests if I have the track with me, otherwise I will play it next time.
What’s your all-time favourite album?
It’s hard to choose one.
Do you play a musical instrument?
Steel guitar, but not for long time.
What’s your favourite movie or TV show?
Ripley’s Believe It or Not.
What’s your advice to those thinking of volunteering at Sunbury Radio?
It is a great medium for relaxation, building self-confidence, getting to know people, and can get you away from the pressures of life for a while.
