Elly McK and the Unbelievers Go Live on In the Jailhouse Tonight

Local alt-country and Americana band Elly McK and the Unbelievers brought their distinctive sound to the airwaves recently, appearing live in-studio on Sunbury Radio’s popular Wednesday night show, In the Jailhouse Tonight, hosted by long-time presenter Dean Walker.
The band, fronted by Sunbury’s own Elly McK on guitar and lead vocals, features Monty Price (guitar), Sam Price (drums), and Jordy Hickey (double bass). During their appearance, the group performed three tracks live to air — The Wind Up, Don’t Stay Away, and Water Will Rise — and discussed their journey so far, including their latest single Too Early.
“In the Jailhouse Tonight is all about showcasing alt-country, folk, and related genres, with a special focus on Aussie-based independent musicians,” said Dean. “We often chat to artists remotely, but having musicians perform live in the studio adds a whole new layer. It’s a treat for our listeners and a great way to truly hear the heart of their music.”
Elly McK was equally enthusiastic about the experience.
“Dean at Sunbury Radio has been a huge supporter since day one and regularly spins our tracks on his show,” she said. “We had a great time on In the Jailhouse Tonight — community radio is the best!”
Dean praised the band’s rising success.
“Elly McK and the Unbelievers are really hitting their stride,” he said. “It was a pleasure to host them, and I’m thankful they made the time to support local radio. Our listeners loved it.”
In the Jailhouse Tonight airs every Wednesday from 8–10pm on Sunbury Radio, offering a platform for independent musicians and a warm, rootsy vibe for music lovers across the community.
