Big turn-out for Sunbury Radio AGM
The Sunbury Radio team held its AGM on Monday 12 August. Around 25 members heard that a slimmed-down governance committee is best for the running of the station – reducing the burden on members to attend meetings.
The committee now consists of five members. Alan Fraser was re-elected as the station’s president.
Outside of the station’s main committee are nine members who are responsible for operational roles such as social media and programming.
The local broadcaster is also seeing a welcome additions to its on-air talent with Cameron Parker, Troy Boom, and J Chander among those indicating they are keen to sit behind the microphone.
The station’s management is also preparing to change the status of Sunbury Radio from a not-for-profit to a registered charity. This is a requirement under new tax rules for community broadcasters.
The station also has some new supporters in CJ Total Building Renovations and Howard Basin mobility scooters helping to sponsor programmes.
Unfortunately, one of the studio’s computers has failed causing the technical team significant work in restoring services. Thankfully, the recently completed studio two picked up the slack while moves are made to replace one of the station’s aging PCs.
Looking ahead…Future outside broadcasts include the Sunbury Agricultural Show on 12 October, Remembrance Day 11 November, and you can meet the team during a fund-raising sausage sizzle to be held at Bunnings, Sunbury, on 24 November – put it in your diary, pop along, and grab a bite.
